Remembering the Fallen

In May of 1990, the Stockton Police Department along with a group of Historians and the Police Officers Association built a memorial in the front lot of the police department to honor fallen officers. It's sad to say, since that time we have had to add names to the memorial forever memorializing the fallen officers in this county. Over the years we have been notified by various agencies that names are missing from the memorial. Subsequent research into the names on the memorial revealed 15 names are missing. The names of officers as far back as 1917 and as recent as 1974 were found to be mistakenly left off the memorial.

When we checked into adding the names to the memorial, we quickly realized the missing names would not fit on the current memorial. We immediately formed a volunteer committee of county law enforcement personnel to research and design a new memorial that will accommodate the missing names and have room for the unfortunate situation of adding new names.

 

In 2015, the San Joaquin County Fallen Peace Officer Foundation was formed. 

Since that time, we have raised over $250,000. We funded and built a new San Joaquin County Memorial, which hosts the yearly memorial service, and displays the names of the fallen, and the badges of every San Joaquin County agency. 

 

The volunteer committee is committed to maintaining this new memorial that will meet the past and future needs of honoring our fallen officers and their surviving families.
